PODCAST EPISODE 18: BRACKEN DARRELL | PRESIDENT & CEO, LOGITECH

Organizations, whether large or small, are simply just myriad combinations of two-person teams, says Bracken Darrell, President & CEO of Logitech. Darrell advocates the use of small teams to get things done, as they are more powerful, flexible, and productive; that’s why he holds plenty of one on one meetings with his team members. As a leader, he believes that decisions should be driven by and made by the people closest to the data. His responsibility as CEO is to make the judgment calls - those decisions where there is limited data available. Under Darrell’s leadership during the last 8 years, Logitech’s stock price has octupled, that’s 8x growth!

Here are my four big takeaways from the conversation:

  1. When you have three people on a team, someone is always an audience.

  2. During the pandemic, he’s seen tremendous growth in many of his people. Often when there are many constraints put upon you, it allows you to focus intently on creativity and innovation.

  3. He believes a leader should lead by example - his job is to inspire his team.

  4. During the pandemic, companies across the globe moved to remote workforces in an incredibly short period of time successfully. What other world problems, like global warming and poverty, can we solve when we put our minds to it?

Challenge for You: During the conversation, Bracken and I aligned on a challenge for every listener. Pick up your phone and call someone you haven’t spoken to in a while, someone who might be lonely, someone who could use a call. Will you take the challenge?

This is a very powerful conversation, full of hope and inspiration. I’d love to hear your biggest takeaways. Enjoy!
