PODCAST EPISODE 9: JEFF ELLMAN | CO-FOUNDER, URBANBOUND, HIREOLOGY, HOMESCOUT

With four successful companies under his belt and over 2,000 employees hired, Jeff Ellman, a visionary and co-founder of Humatal, Homescout, Hireology, and UrbanBound, knows something about starting and building a successful business. It’s all about the first ten people you bring into your organization, advises Jeff. They are the foundation of your business. If they align with your company’s values, they’ll also bring in employees that have the same vision and values. But hire the wrong person? It causes the Bozo effect, says Jeff.

Here are my three big takeaways from the conversation:

  1. Be slow to hire and fast to fire.

  2. It’s integral to learn from hiring mistakes and what part you may have played in them … did you ask the right questions? Do you know the answers to look for to predict success?

  3. An organization’s success is like a wheel – every department contributes to the wins and failures and we can’t succeed without each other.

Lots of great nuggets packed in this short but sweet episode. What’s your biggest takeaway from the conversation with Jeff?
